PSA’s results:

  • PSA's lobbying and litigation team secured legislation for $500,000,000 in postal emergency preparedness funds and over $10 BILLION in retirement savings that resulted in stable postal rates through 2005.  Overall, the savings resulting from PSA litigation in recent years has reduced the average parcel price by more than 70 cents. Next year, if you mail one million parcels, you will save $700,000 dollars as a result of PSA's efforts.
  • Shippers went four years without a postal rate increase, and have seen unprecedented stability in many drop ship rates;
  • USPS package delivery performance is at an all time high, and you can track that performance for your packages;
  • USPS managers’ bonuses now depend on how well they deliver your packages; and
  • There is a Parcel Return Service, which helps you build customer loyalty.

PSA’s 2006 efforts:

  • Establishment of a new Evolutionary Network Development (END) Committee to address issues of concern to parcel shippers as the USPS seeks to “rationalize” its network;
  • Testing the USPS END proposal at the Postal Regulatory Commission, making sure the PRC hears from the parcel shipping industry on this important initiative;
  • Two new PSA-sponsored MTAC Workgroups to address Parcel Preparation and Optimization and FAST/Surface Visibility for Parcels;
  • Aggressively litigating the R2006-1 postal rate case, challenging and cross examining USPS witnesses, sponsoring PSA testimony, and fighting to reduce the disastrous parcel rate increases proposed by the USPS;
  • Assembling allies and lobbying Capitol Hill to protect your interests as postal reform legislation advances in the Congress;
  • Shaping the development of e-VS rules and making sure PSA members are the most informed about their requirements and implementation.
